The clients asked for glamorous spaces to showcase their art, they also wanted a home filled with and surrounded by nature.

Five metre tall entertaining spaces, flooded with natural light and elevated in order to maximise the views, lead seamlessly onto a platform lawn edged by a twenty one metre infinity pool.  A striated granite wall dramatically extends the interior through to outside.

Full height exterior openings have both sliding glass and metal shutters, enabling flexible shading and natural ventilation. Graphite coloured render is capped all round by a marble band.

Two storey 'family' and 'guest' wings are sunken into the remodelled hill either side of the entertaining spaces, creating a consistent roofline, and balancing building code restrictions on slope and height.

Felicity Bell designed the architecture and interior spaces of this luxury family residence on an east facing hillside, with views over The Bel Air Country Club, and the downtown Los Angeles city skyline in the distance beyond.

A gym with a lap pool is carved into the hillside underneath the platform pool.
